Want the full itinerary I would plan to Scotland including some of these highlights? Let me know!
You can also book great experiences in Scotland here through Viator or explore Azamara's cruise itineraries - the 11 day Scotland trip should be considered!
Ever heard of Kilcreggan in Scotland? Probably not. But there's a great bar there called The Creggans with some amazing art on the wall.
We were so tired that day and the locals were so welcoming (someone even bought us a drink)! We stayed nearby at the Knockderry Country House Hotel.
I also highly recommend taking the ferry across to Gourock if you have the chance. A Guinness hit the spot with our burgers. Want to know how we got there and what we did after? Here's the Insider Playbook.
Long story short - I was convinced that a Blood and Sand was the official drink of The Open but not sure where I saw that information. I asked for it several times in places and got blank stares. At the Kingsmill in Inverness, we found a bartender willing to make one for us and he also enjoyed the recipe! One of my favorite drinks.
While driving in Glencoe (which is amazing), don't miss a detour here. Watch the mountain bikers came zooming down the mountain or take a ride up the chairlift to see some unreal views.
Detour Score: 8.0
Skip it - We didn’t spend a lot of time at Loch Ness but we did go down to the water to check it out on our drive through! Many people love this area because of the legend of Nessie and there are certainly lots of tourist spots you could stop at. The lake was pretty but we weren’t interested in getting souvenirs or stopping. Ok to pass by on your itinerary.
Staying in this castle (also known as The Black Castle is an unreal experience. Don't forget to look for the hidden passages. (We only found one). Definitely worth booking if you near Oban.
